Who Are We? We are families of children who have become very medically fragile or dependent on technology as a result of illness, accident or a genetic condition. We provide the type of care in our homes that is usually provided by health care professionals in hospitals or institutions. Our children are exceptional people who live with tremendous challenges on a daily basis. They play, laugh, learn and love against the medical odds. We love them deeply and want to provide the best quality of life we can offer.

How Children, Families and Communities Benefit From Their Respite Experience
We provide a safe, secure and fun out-of-home experience. Children love their respite visits because it offers new stimulation and more friendly faces in their lives, and their self-esteem is enhanced when they have an opportunity for their individual time away from their family.
We provide support to parents and families. Out-of-home respite offers families relief from day-to-day caregiving and stress, as well as an opportunity to be active with their other children who also need their attention. Sometimes, primary caregivers just need time to rest, relax or sleep. They can do this knowing their child is well cared for within their own community.
We provide a voice for children with high needs and their families.
We provide opportunities for clinical placements for students enrolled at the local colleges and universities in health/caregiving programs. We also provide training in the care of high needs children for present and future caregivers/family members and community personnel. |
